Setting off on a Voyage of Discovery

5eme have been looking at why people in the Middle Ages did not make long journeys of discovery and one man who inspired them to set off, Marco Polo. We looked at a range of historical sources, listened to an informative song and then wrote letters as though we were heading out to see the world.

Edible Roman Roads

This term, in 6eme3, we are looking at how the Romans conquered most of Britain. This week, we looked at the importance of Roman roads and created our own edible versions. We discussed each layer and how each helped the Roman army venture closer and closer to Britain. Continue reading

London Calling

Last term in 4eme we studied at a piece of travel writing by Bill Bryson. After a fantastic trip to London the students wrote up their experience in his style, the results had me laughing out loud.
